2018 John D. Gillen Golden Eagle Alumni Award Recipient
Mrs. Diana Hernandez Muccio, Class of 1970

Dear Kennedy Family,

I am pleased to announce the recipient of the 2018 John D. Gillen Golden Eagle Alumni Award, Mrs. Diana (Hernandez) Muccio, Class of 1970. Mrs. Muccio has been an educator for 43 years. She is committed to the success of Catholic education, and has taught at numerous Catholic schools during her career including Mount Carmel, St. James, St. Pius, and John F. Kennedy Catholic School Lower Campus for the last 8 years. I am honored to have her speak as a role model and guide to the graduating Class of 2018. Please allow me to share more about Diana.
She was born and raised in Warren, Ohio. Diana attended St. Mary School, grades K-8, and then went on to graduate from John F. Kennedy. She earned her B.S. Elementary Education and M.S. in Early Childhood Education from Youngstown State University and completed post graduate work at Walsh University. Diana was nationally board certified by the National Board Professional Teaching Standard in 2004. 

Diana has been extensively recognized for her work as an educator. She was a member of the first Golden Apple Award class in 2000, given to exceptional Diocesan administrators and educators. Diana is a two-time recipient of the Tribune A+ Teacher Award and the WFMJ Dunkin Donut Class Act Award. She has been nominated twice for the Disney Teacher of the Year Award.

Service to her school and community include time as a Board Member (1994-1996) on the John F. Kennedy Alumni Board and a member of both the Trumbull Area Reading Council and the Alpha Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Mrs. Muccio has also been active as the moderator for our 5th and 6th grade Student Council.

Mrs. Muccio and her high school sweetheart, Richard Muccio '70, have two sons Doug '96 and Nick '99, and three grandsons. She will be retiring at the end of this year, after a rich teaching career working with numerous wonderful students and their families.

Baccalaureate will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Robert Parish, Reverend Carl Kish Presiding.  Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Packard Music Hall.
